Torrent safety: verify before opening
Torrent safety is mostly about skepticism: treat every magnet as untrusted until you verify what arrived. This page complements our magnet mechanics guide. It focuses on operational habits, not antivirus endorsements.
Filenames, extensions, and size sanity
A video release that weighs a few megabytes is suspect; a tiny .exe claiming to be a game crack is worse. Cross-check expected sizes with reputable release notes when they exist.
Checksums and publishers
When authors publish SHA-256 or GPG signatures, compare after download. For media, checksums are less common, so community reputation and consistent naming become the main signals.
What we cannot promise
TorrentSearch.xyz lists metadata from third-party indexes. We do not execute files, scan archives, or certify safety. Use offline sandboxes or disposable machines when testing unknown binaries.
